Tortuguero - Is Costa Rica’s “Amazon”. This region, located on the Caribbean Coast, consists of a series of rivers and canals that parallel the sea, often running about 100 yards from the beach. One of the most diverse biological areas of the country, Tortuguero is home to sloth, manatees, monkeys, toucans, fishing bats and much more. Tortuguero (Spanish word for turtle) is also the largest nesting site in the Western Hemisphere for the green turtle (June-September).

Puerto Viejo - Unlike any other part of Costa Rica, Puerto Viejo has an Afro Caribbean influence. This rustic atmosphere takes you to a simple life with amazing beaches, people, and wildlife.  This coast enjoys a luxurious coral reef that is perfect for snorkeling and diving adventures.  The town also is host to one of the best surf spots in Costa Rica, Salsa Brava.  Puerto Viejo has many beachside hotels, restaurants, and shops that create a town that is a must see when visiting Costa Rica.

The biggest attraction – and growing even bigger – is the dynamic Arenal Volcano, near La Fortuna. Arenal is a huge, cone-shaped volcano that rumbles and shoots rocks, lava, smoke and ash out its two main vents. When not obscured by clouds, it presents itself as a massive dark triangle with boulders as big as cars tumbling down its sides. At night, when the sky is clear and the lava flowing, it displays a light show like no other. There’s a pretty real sense of danger from being so close to such a powerful giant, but this thrill only adds a great deal to the experience.
